Meeting of General Assembly FERVER in Athens
Company Utility CJSC has taken part in work of a regular General Assembly FERVER which took place on June, 25th of this year in the capital of Greece. On the main annual action in a life of European glass processing industries there were mentioned the most important things and urgent questions. Live dialog has shown that despite national distinctions, - it is possible to allocate the all-European tendencies. Among positive dynamics there are improvement of a situation at glass manufacturers, stable growth of volumes and waste glass collecting rates in all countries of Europe. Also the General Assembly has noted an achievement of 25 % waste glass collection and processing which is worthy result among East European countries. It means that the EU Directive, about 60 % packaging processing in general and glass in particular, - will be fulfilled completely and in time. And for example France can reach more considerable results of 75 % waste glass processing rate.
In the same time, the Meeting had to state the fact that quantity hunting resulted in loss of quality. In all EU countries there should be recognized a general quality deterioration of collected waste glass that in its turn negatively affects the processing. There are several reasons. The first one is a withdrawal from the system of separate packaging collection in the direction of the common collection of packaging which is also dictated by quantity hunting. The second one is an insufficient attention, at a certain stage, to the education work among the population about advantage and necessity of separate collection of wastes which led to the generation "not accustomed" to the correct reference with wastes. It was taken the decision to inform EU authorities about negative tendencies and together with them to put the general efforts for improvement of the current situation.
Summing up the work of the General Assembly and of all last year, FERVER has expressed support to Utility's plans concerning development of glass processing in Russia and Ukraine.
