ADVANTAGES OF GLASS RECYCLING
Energy saving
Use of cullet allows the glass manufacturing industry to reduce energy expenses. So energy consumption will decrease approximately on 2-3 % for each 10 % cullet used in production.
Absence of by-products
Glass is 100 % reused material. Process of glass recycling is completely closed cycle which does not create any additional waste or by-products.
Harmful emissions decrease
By empties manufacturing each 10 % of cullet in furnace charge reduce the maintenance in emissions:
- Microparticles - on 8 %
- Nitrogen oxide - on 4 %
- Sulfur dioxides - on 10 %
Raw materials saving
Each ton of the recycled glass saves more than one ton of original raw materials, including about 650 kg of sand, 186 kg of soda and about 200 kg of limestone.
Decrease of waste going to dumps
Glass recycling prevents entry of waste glass to dumps which allows to save only in Ukraine and Russia more than 16 000 hectares of the earth annually.
